New Delhi: Zomato hosted the 2024 EV Bazaar in New Delhi to promote EV deliveries. This event showcased EV benefits and offered guidance on choosing suitable vehicles, featuring insights from industry leaders like Quantum Energy, Hero, Ola, and more.
The event, graced by Chief Guest Shri Kailash Gahlot, Minister of Transport, Govt. of Delhi, brought together EV stakeholders. The portal allows deployers to connect with delivery partners, offer EV rentals, and manage EV inventory for partner usage on Zomato. Additionally, high-performing EV delivery partners were recognized, with Kinetic Green and Quantum providing free EVs. The Zomato team presented EV-focused films to support a smooth transition to EVs for their delivery network.
Commenting on the event, Anjalli Ravi Kumar, Chief Sustainability Officer, Zomato, said, “At Zomato, we are committed towards facilitating 100% EV-based deliveries by 2030. Building on the success of previous EV melas and bazaars, which influenced around 5,000 delivery partners to switch from petrol-based bikes in FY23, the EV Bazaar further supports Zomato’s mission to reduce last-mile delivery emissions. The event is designed to ensure that delivery partners are well-informed about the benefits of EVs and supported in their transition. By providing a platform for them to gain these insights, our objective is to increase the EV penetration amongst them and to shift their intent towards the ownership of EVs”.
Shri Kailash Gahlot, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, commented, “The Delhi Government has been steadfast in its commitment to creating an environmentally conscious city. We strongly advocate the shift towards EVs, recognizing their environmental and economic benefits, and support initiatives like EV Bazaar by companies like Zomato and Blinkit that aim to increase awareness among gig workers.”
Over 1000 Zomato and Blinkit delivery partners joined the EV Bazaar for insightful sessions. Abhishek Dwivedi, Business Head- EV at Zomato, emphasized accelerating EV adoption for sustainable delivery fleets. The day included sessions on EV benefits, financing options, and interactions with OEM stalls. Delivery partners also tested EVs hands-on to better understand their features.
Since 2022, Zomato has offered carbon-neutral deliveries and committed to achieving 100% EV-based deliveries by 2030 through their EV program. This initiative involves improving access to EVs for delivery partners, partnering with EV rental companies and OEMs, onboarding EV-based logistics providers, collaborating with financial services for EV bike ownership, and raising awareness about EV benefits.
“Kinetic Green is proud to partner with Zomato to make EVs more accessible to delivery partners. The Kinetic brand is well loved by Indian 2-wheeler riders and through events such as this EV Bazaar, we aim to showcase the benefits of our green scooter range, and especially our new e-Luna which is most suited as an ideal solution to the needs of the delivery partners, with its stylish and strong chassis, a lot of room and convenience for carrying goods and ample ground clearance for any terrain. We look forward to building this partnership and bringing green mobility to millions!”, said Ritesh Mantri, CEO, Kinetic Green.
