New Delhi, 24th January 2024: Enhancing the safety and well-being of the delivery partners, Zomato, India’s food ordering and delivery platform, organized ‘India’s Emergency Heroes’ program at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. Graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Government of India, this industry-first initiative is aimed at enabling delivery partners to learn the nuances of medical first-aid & CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) through professional and certified training programs. Contributing to the well-being of both the delivery professionals and the communities they serve, through this initiative, Zomato aims to create awareness amongst all delivery partners with respect to vital skills to prevent serious injury or loss of life during medical emergency situations. At the event, Zomato also announced that it will distribute Bluetooth-enabled helmets to 3 lakh+ delivery partners, reiterating its continued endeavor of ensuring delivery partner safety.

At the event, Zomato also hosted the “Zomato Bravery Awards” ceremony to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of five select delivery partners, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Committed to creating a holistic and empowering ecosystem for all delivery partners, Zomato also celebrated ‘Delivery Partners’ Day’ across 11 cities where 1,500+ delivery partners & their families were felicitated for their invaluable contributions. At the celebrations, mandatory training of traffic rules & road safety were conducted in collaboration with the local traffic body. In addition, Zomato provides each Zomato on-boarded delivery partner with ₹10 lakh insurance cover, free health insurance, maternity benefits, and income protection. It has also introduced an industry-leading rest facility, providing access to water, charging stations, washrooms, a 24/7 helpdesk, and first aid.
The firm also distributed over 250,000+ wearable assets to delivery partners in FY23, incorporating reflector strips on jackets to aid their visibility at night. In its effort to create an inclusive environment for the delivery fleet, Zomato has introduced a comprehensive maternity insurance plan for female delivery partners, covering pregnancy-related expenses consisting of birth. In addition, Zomato has also onboarded 300+ persons with disabilities and empowered 2,000 women through a dedicated program, which includes providing two days of period rest monthly.
