Celebrating five years of successful operations, ZEE5 revealed a line up of 111 titles featuring originals in Hindi and regional languages. Speaking at a media roundtable, Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India revealed that the OTT platform has clocked over 100 bn streaming minutes during the financial year 2023.
Kalra underlined the platform’s ‘Customer First’ strategy and said, “Playing to our strength is our style and our strength lies in the local languages of India. Being the first mover and being a homegrown OTT, we understand India; we know where the customer is, leveraging the experience of providing content for more than two decades.”
Kalra also enlisted the goals of ZEE5 as: “Doubling down on acquiring subscribers, converting majority of them to pay for the content, growing the profitability of the platform, providing seamless viewing experience to the customer even in low bandwidth, tech improvements in UI & UX.”
“ZEE5 clocked 100 bn+ streaming minutes in FY’23. This is a testament to the fact that we have grown exponentially by investing in creativity and innovation, enhancing viewing experiences and offering increased value to the viewers,” he added.
He also revealed that ZEE5 has garnered user ratings of 4.5 on Playstore and 4.7 on iOS.
On the male to female ratio of viewers, he stated that ZEE5’s AVOD has 70 pc of female audience due to availability of TV shows while SVOD has 65 pc male and 35 pc female.
On the platform’s plans for international content, Manish ruled out possibilities of big ticket partnership and added, “We believe in our strength and our strength lies in the local markets. With shows like Ayali, we have reimagined the ideation process of web series on OTTs. We have partnered with prominent content creators and cinematic maestros such as Dharma Productions, Salman Khan Films, Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, Bhanushali Studios, The Viral Fever (TVF), Applause Entertainment, Goldie Behl’s Rose Audio Visuals and others to strengthen the platform’s content portfolio that caters to a wide audience base.”
