Chennai: Tamil GEC Zee Tamil is bolstering its evening and prime time offering with slew of changes and new additions in the recent past as the Channel has consolidated itself as a No.3 player and marching closer to No. 2 position in TN market.
Initially, the Channel revamped its prime time chat show “Sollvathellam Unnmai” by bringing back the original host Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, who was replaced couple of months before due to her travel abroad. The revamped episodes of the show was aired from 4th April and it has already started showing good results in the form of increase in numbers for the channel.
The Channel is set to add more power to its evening time band by exploring the Fantasy fiction route, with the launch of Mystic Thriller Naga Rani in its 6:00 PM time band. The new show will commence from 25th April and will air on every Monday to Friday.
Naga Rani on Zee Tamil is the Tamil Version of Kannada show Naagini, which is being aired on Zee Kannada. The show which was launched during February this year, has opened with good numbers in Kannada Market and it is running successfully at 9:00 PM time band.
Naga Rani is a Fantasy thriller, which is based on Indian ancient belief on Icchaadhari Nagini. ‘Naga Rani’ is a battle between the protagonist Amrutha (Nagini) and the villains who have stolen the Nagamani by killing Amrutha`s parents. Amrutha then comes as Nagini into the human`s world to take revenge.
Apparently, the viewer’s choice in the recent past seems to be in favour this kind of Fanstasy concepts. The top rated shows in HSM Market Naagin on Colors is continuously peaking the charts since the beginning and similar concepts also performed well in TN market.
Zee Tamil is consistently growing with its viewership increasing week by week from 99504 GVT in week 13 to 107402 GVT in week 14 and a further increase of 30% in this week. The Channel consistently trumped Polimer TV to reach number three spot in Tamil Nadu GEC Market.
According to the BARC Ratings of Week 15 for the period between 9th April to 15th April, Zee Tamil at No. 3 spot scored – 1,32,754 GVTs inching close with Vijay TV’s viewership of 1,57,604 GVT.
No wonder, the new additions in Zee Tamil might spin the Tamil GEC positioning within couple of weeks.
