Chennai : Zee Media’s production arm Essel Vision Productions Ltd. (EVPL), which is exclusively producing many successful fiction, non-fiction shows for Zee umbrella channels and in to production of Hindi and Marathi Movies, is expanding to South Indian regional language market, to exclusively produce shows for Zee Media’s South regional channels such as Zee Tamizh, Zee Telugu and Zee Kannada.
EVPL headed by CEO Nittin Keni is successfully producing many popular shows like SaReGaMa Challenge, Dance India Dance (DiD), Fear Files, Zee Rishtey Awards etc… and has been part of movies like Kaaksparsh, Time Pass, Lai Bhaari and Duniyadaari which have been the highest grosser in the Marathi film space. The company was also involved with films like The Lunchbox and D-Day.
To enhance EVPL from its current size into a business which is larger in terms of reach to multiple channels and languages, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has appointed Mr. Akash Chawla, as the Business Head. Akash has been given the mandate to head the TV Production (all languages), Movie Production (all languages except Marathi), Studio Production Business, Digital & Online Production, Events & IP creation.
In continuation of the above developments, EVPL is planning to enter the South Indian Television market to produce fiction and non-fiction shows exclusively Zee Group channels in South. EVPL is expected to play a major role in delivering quality content in a cost effective manner and support the regional channels with new path breaking ideas that can drive the channel’s performance to greater heights.
Sources confirm that EVPL is going to initiate their operation in South, starting from Chennai and expected to produce programs for Zee Tamizh to start with and expand to Hyderabad and Bangalore later on to support Zee Telugu and Zee Kannada. Sources also confirm that a team is already doing ground work for initiating operations in Chennai and they are expected to operate from the Zee Tamizh’s new Chennai office located at Guindy.
The growing competition associated with the need for a quality production in a cost effective manner has prompted Zee Group to thinks of establishing EVPL in Mumbai and managed to delivery many solid properties for its flagship channel Zee TV and Zee Marathi. Now they hope to replicate the success story of EVPL, in their South Regional Language Channels also.
