Trivandrum: After successful penetration in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada markets of the South Region, Zee Entertainment Enterprises is set to venture in to the gods own Country with their plan to launch its Malayalam Entertainment Channel, Zee Malayalam, during the auspicious occasion of Visu that falls in mid April, marking the birth of Malayalam New Year.
Zee Malayalam is already on active mode with its operations being sphere headed by its Business Head Deepti Sivan. The Channel is in the process of finalizing its Content line-up for launch and it has already acquired the satellite rights of recently launched Malayalam movies such as Hey Jude, Aadu 2, Diwanjimoola Grand Prix etc and also in the process of negotiation with many upcoming movie titles.
Deepti Sivan comes from a family of renowned Creative Professionals and she herself came across many challenging assignments in Radio, Television and Film Industry in her career spanning around 20 years.
Graduating in Law and with M.B.A in Entrepreneurship Deepti has handled a variety of roles with enriched experiences – as Director, Producer, Production Designer, and Station Director of Radio Station to a Channel Head of Television. Her forte is media strategy, ideas generation, content development, brand identity and expansion.
Prior to joining Zee Malayalam, Deepti was associated with Tripod Entertainment as Executive Producer. During her stint with Sun TV Network, Deepti was the Channel Head of Surya TV for 2 years and in Red FM she played the role of Regional Station Director for all station across Kerala for more than three years.
She also acted as the Film Programmer for Hidden Gems International Film Festival at Calgary in Canada for more than year.
During his recent interaction with BloombergQuint, Punit Goenka, Managing Director and CEO of ZEEL said, “We will leave no stone unturned for Kerala and Punjab markets. From where we stand today, we see no opportunity for acquisitions, so it has to be greenfield,”.
“In Kerala, the company plans to launch a general entertainment channel while for Punjab, it will be a hybrid between music and films” he added.
