Bangalore: Zee Kannada, known for its unique variety of shows in the Fiction and Non-Fiction genres, is all set to launch a fresh fiction show, “Puttakkana Makkalu”. This inspirational tale will premiere on the channel from December 13, 2021 and will air every Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm.
Former Minister and National Award-winning actress Umashree is all set to make a mega comeback to the small screen with this fiction show. A versatile genius, Umashree, will be seen playing the lead role of the mother of three daughters – Puttakka and she will definitely bring out the raw emotions of the character like no one else.
Based in Devipura in Mandya district, Puttakkana Makkalu follows the hardships of Puttakka. After her husband abandons her for not giving birth to a male child, her life starts revolving around her three daughters – Sahana, Sneha and Suma.All her children are brilliant; however, it is her second daughter – Sneha who aspires to become an IAS officer and return Puttakka’s lost pride. On the other hand, Kanthi is the lead hero of this tale. A local goon, Kanthi believes blindly in his mother Baddi Bangaramma who is a moneylender, he never questions her instructions and facilitates in collecting the money lent. While he is brash, he also stands up for whatever is right. However the story takes an interesting turn when Kanthi falls in love with Puttakka’s daughter Sneha.
Along with Umashree, stars like Manju Bhashini, Ramesh Pandit, Karthik Mahesh, Hamsa Sarika Raj, Renuka, Guru Hegade, Sunanda Hospet and other budding actors like Sanjana, Akshara, Shilpa, Nisha, Dhanush as well as Santhosh and Gajendra of Comedy Kiladigalu fame are a part of the starcast.
Aruru Jagadish of “Jothe Jotheyali’ fame is directing this show, while JS Productions is producing it. The co-producers onboard for the show are Pradeep Ajri and Pareekshit MS, while the story is being developed by the Zee Kannada team and screenplay and dialogues by Satyaki. The title song of the serial is already a hit with lyrics written by Harsha priya and music by Poorna chandra Tejaswi and sung by Panchama Jeeva.
With Puttakkana Makkalu revolving around Puttakka’s journey and the adversities she undergoes to fulfill the dream of her daughters, it will be interesting to see if Sneha will be able to help Puttakka regain her lost pride.
