Qarib Qarib Singlle is a contemporary love story between two opposite personalities who embark upon an unusual journey, which becomes an adventure of a lifetime. The film stars Irrfan Khan and Parvathy (Bollywood debut) in the lead roles and marks the directorial comeback of the supremely talented Tanuja Chandra.
Along with the melodious music scored by Rochak Kohli and Vishal Mehra, the movie takes viewers to the exotic locations across the states of Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan. Also, parts of the film are shot on the vintage Fairy Queen train.
Working on her first Bollywood project, Parvathy expressed, I still pinch myself when I think about Qarib Qarib Singlle. It was a dream come true for me as I made my Bollywood debut opposite Irrfan Khan and was being directed by Tanuja Chandra. The experience while shooting the movie was delightful and will always be amongst my favourite memories. I am extremely happy that the movie will now be enjoyed by a wider audience on television on Zee Cinema.”
The ever charming Irrfan Khan shed some light on his experience of working on this project by stating, “Qarib Qarib Singlle is a very happy film and will make you feel romantic as well. The film has its own old-world charm to it which is beautiful. It’s a very Hindustani real-life type of a film. I am sure the viewers will love to watch that on television.”
Qarib Qarib Singlle is the story of two single individuals, a woman named Jaya (Parvathy) and a man named Yogi (Irrfan Khan), both in their late 30s, who meet each other through a website called Ab Tak Singlle. What ensues is a series of fun-filled encounters between these two persons who appear to be poles apart to ever end up together. While the man, who calls himself a poet, believes in living his life to the fullest, the woman comes across as a shy and private individual who hasn’t yet fully recovered from the trauma of losing her husband at a considerably young age. It’s delightful to see how their love story transforms with time and grows gradually.
