Bengaluru : White Horse Network Services, a Bangalore based Media and Entertainment company owned by Media Veteran P. Kailasam is likely to launch a new Kannada entertainment channel Kalki TV in couple of months.
Kannada television industry sources are abuzz with this topic of new Kannada Channel to be launched shortly. The Sources also confirm that Kannada GEC Kalki TV was supposed to be launched in September 2015, But the plan got pushed back for few more months due to the additional time required for pre launch preparations in programming side and other technical aspects.
It seems White Horse has roped in Balraj Naidu to oversee the programming line up of the channel and also to finalize some big ticket non-fiction properties that can be the main attraction at the time of channel launch. Balraj Naidu was part of the White Horse team during their short stint assignment to revamp Kasthuri TV.
White Horse decided to launch its own channel after the fallout of their five years lease deal with Kasthuri TV owned by politician family HD Kumaraswamy, his wife Anita Kumaraswamy and son Nikhil.
Earlier, during February 2015, Kasturi TV was leased out to White Horse Networks for five years with a monthly assured returns of Rs 25 Lacs, White Horse has initiated major steps to revamp the channel as per the agreement. They also took a right decision to outsources the channel selling job to Mumbai based agency aidum ventures and initiated various steps to maximize the revenue.
But just three months later during May 2015, when everything was moving in the right direction, the political family made a U turn and decided to run the channel itself. So, HD Kumaraswamy sat for negotiations at 2 pm on a Saturday during the third week of May and by 5 pm the team of White Horse Networks was asked to pack its bags and By 7 pm, the channel was sporting the original (old) logo.
And finally P. Kailasam, who knows the television business very well seems to have decided to go on his own with Kalki TV.
