Move over FIFA World Cup. It’s time for the IPL. No, for the IPL Auction. Sorry, ‘Mini’ auction’. It may be a mini auction but it gets all the traction and more, with the mega bucks, mega stars and unbelievably popular teams involved. The IPL has made household names out of CSK, MI, KKR and co. It has also gamified aspects of the game like team selection with live auction to augment fan engagement. No wonder that even mock auctions are being followed and shared passionately. There’s no stopping this juggernaut. Something tells me this year will disprove the fatigue theories of last year, helped by some astute marketing.

Some say it was the best FIFA World Cup final ever. It certainly worked like a magical script. Two goals in the first half by the team many expected to win. Two to equalise in the second half from France. One each in Extra Time, again with Argentinians going up first. And then the penalties. If it were a league somewhere (not pointing to any one in particular), one might have seen aspersions being cast on social media that it may have been fixed to make things supremely exciting.
