#Covid
God save us from another round of the dreaded virus. And bless us with the strength to overcome it – and attendant lockdowns if it does indeed hit home – one more time.

If China has such massive covid outbreak, why are the flight arrivals from China not banned? Why are we making the same mistake of 2019 again?? #covid #china

#Pathaan
In the news again. And again. And again. One wonders if Vivek Agnihotri and co. really aren’t aware that they have been promoting the movie. Convoluted and arguably muddled hypothesis, but in a world where anything is possible… The Censor Board chief originally from adland is also in the news thanks to some changes recommended to the film. Slo is Amazon, with #BoycottAmazon, for Amazon Prime picking up the OTT rights. This is showing all the signs of becoming an international blockbuster.

#Greta
This column usually steers clear of such language but this time we had to make an exception. When someone who was banned from Twitter makes a re-entry and attempts to bully a celebrated teen activist, it’s not funny. When the activist decides to give it back in a language the bully understands to outrage him, the world is cheering her on. The last Tweet here may not be the most popular on the subject, but captures the thoughts of many of us.
Nearly one month after Andrew Tate's five-year Twitter ban was lifted, the controversial content creator tried—and failed—to take a swing at climate activist Greta Thunberg. pic.twitter.com/o0UVBfXPks

The world doesn't need any more Andrew Tates, but it needs plenty more Greta Thunbergs.

A part of me wishes #Greta had not responded to him because now I know who he is and I am gagging. But also, bullies sometimes need to be shut up. He is a horrible example of how social media can elevate the worst of us. He runs Hustler’s University that men are buying into 🤢

#MahsaAmini
Long after Greta Thunberg came another young girl whose name would echo around the world. Mahsa Amini (RIP). It is still reverberating all across. A young man has committed suicide to wake European nations up to what is happening in Iran. A professor who tore up his degrees saying if women cannot get that education, he does not want them. His words: “If my sister and mother cannot study, then I don’t accept this education.” He too has been summoned by the regime.
Here’s wishing 2023 brings peace to the troubled nation. Irrespective of who is in power, more power should rest with the common people.
Unfortunately there is no news on #MostafaNili, who is still in prison. All he did, was doing his job. He should not be in jail. Mostafa should be free, living his life & defending people in need of legal council. Please share & comment to raise awareness. #IranRevolution pic.twitter.com/g0foG2wAPy

Nope! What you see is civil disobedience against compulsory hijab. No law has been abolished, neither the regime has backed down, nor the people. They'll fight until they get their country back. #MahsaAmini

Would any of us academics in the west be as courageous as this professor in Afghanistan ? Imagine what the Taliban are going to do to him now. The people of Iran, Kurdistan, Afghanistan have put the rest of world to shame w their acts of bravery against intolerance, and misogyny https://t.co/BolK0tUMYi
