#Balasore
The train accident was a tragedy of mammoth proportions and resulted in unbelievable grief. As is the case with most such incidents, there was politicisation and there was posturing. But there were also the silver linings. The locals who rushed to help before the ambulances or rescue personnel could were deservingly in the media spotlight. The lines of people queued up to donate blood in the middle of the night was another moment worth looking back at with pride. Celebrities and corporate houses have jumped in to help. There is also of course the much-needed analysis of how the accident happened.

#WorldTestChampionship
The score reads 260 for 6 when I write this, trailing the mammoth Australian total by over 200 runs. The IPL is being blamed for the Indian team’s alleged underpreparedness in English conditions. Everyone and her aunt is an expert again. And guess what, the match isn’t over and there are people keenly watching the five-day format.

Is it a good idea for India to play a World Test Championship after just after the IPL? Most definitely not. But how does the BCCI move a tournament that has been around for 15 years in the same time slot, a time when most other boards have been persuaded to release players?

Will the "rain" Gods save India from a shameful defeat in their successive World test championship finals ?

#GitanjaliAiyar
I must admit I have only vague memories of the veteran TV presenter who is no more. From reports, I gather that she was one of the best and earliest. The calm, refined and collected lot of her vintage could be the differentiation TV news needs today. RIP.
@iamshamminarang remembers his #Doordarshan colleague #GitanjaliAiyar as a warm, fun, perfectionist who used to ensure the bulletin was 100% error-free. He spoke to @aakriti_handa about their days together as newsreaders and memories outside of work. https://t.co/qBpAinqk2I

#BrijBhushanSingh
The longer this drags on, the more harmful it is for the ruling dispensation at the centre. The changed statement of the minor’s father that frees Mr.Singh from the POCSO charge may be a tool for damage control, but it has come too late to help optics. It may actually further the image of a powerful and protected man showing his might on a hapless victim. Perception takes time to shape; and longer to reshape.

So the conspiracy theories and the ‘Real story of Mahsa Amini’ scripts are coming out stronger. So are the protestors. This, unfortunately, looks like it will go on for a lot longer.
