Singapore: Vice Media has appointed Nilesh Zaveri as the Chief Operating and Financial Officer of its soon-to-be-open Asia-Pacific hub in Singapore and he will be reporting to the APAC CEO, Hosi Simon.
Zaveri has 15 years of experience working for major international broadcasters and media owners across Asia, including News Corp, ESPN Star Sports and most recently Discovery Networks Asia Pacific where he was also the CFO.
“Nilesh’s expertise across the region, specifically in India, China, and South East Asia will have an immediate and significant impact as we continue to assemble top-tier talent and partner with leading media entities and brands throughout these territories,” Simon said.
Zaveri added, “This is a unique opportunity to be a part of an ambitious vision which allows me to leverage my Asia experience to develop successful business models. The online video market across APAC is the next frontier, and with VICE, which has an unrivalled understanding of youth media consumption habits, we are in a unique position of strength to unlock its true potential.”
The hub is expected to be fully operational by January next year and will be followed by new office openings in Delhi and Mumbai.
Vice already has bases Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China and Indonesia.
In addition to its editorial business, Vice will also bring its creative agency Virtue Worldwide to the region. The publisher claims to have already partnered with global brands such as Unilever, Nike, Budweiser, BMW and Alexander Wang.
