Kiran Mani, the CEO of Viacom18’s digital arm is expected to lead the brand’s digital and sports businesses, while Kevin Vaz, CEO-Broadcast, will oversee content clusters for TV and digital, according to media reports.
This restructuring follows Reliance’s merger with Disney, combining the businesses of Viacom18 and Star India through a joint venture announced on February 28.
According to an internal communication, Kiran Mani is set to oversee Viacom18’s linear sports channels in addition to his role as the CEO for the digital vertical. Having joined Viacom18 last year following 13 years at Google, Mani will now have Anil Jairaj, Viacom18 Sports CEO, reporting to him within the new organizational structure.
Meanwhile, Kevin Vaz, who joined Viacom18 in July last year after departing Disney Star in April, is also part of this leadership transition. He will be responsible for the entire content business. However, Both Mani and Vaz perform their roles as Co-CEOs at the media company.
While the rearrangements being done, Reliance along with its affiliates will obtain 63.16% while Disney will hold 36.84% in the JV as per the deal. This, in turn, will make the nation’s leading media company to house two streaming service and around 120 television channels.
