Mumbai: Following the successful launch of its 5G services in Mumbai, a telecom operator Vi (Vodafone Idea) has announced the expansion of its high-speed 5G network to cricket stadiums in 11 major cities across India. As the India T20 League unfolds between March and May, cricket fans in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam will now be able to experience the power of Vi 5G live from the stands.
To support the massive influx of spectators and ensure uninterrupted, high-speed connectivity during the high-octane matches, Vi has significantly upgraded its network infrastructure. In these stadiums and surrounding areas, Vi has deployed a total of 53 5G sites, enhanced capacity at 44 sites, and installed 9 Cell On Wheels (CoW) units to meet the surge in data demand.
With the integration of advanced technologies such as BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) and Massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), Vi’s expanded 5G network is designed to deliver a seamless digital experience, even in densely packed venues.
Vi customers who have 5G-enabled smartphones can enjoy unlimited Vi 5G access at these stadiums by simply turning on the 5G feature in their phone settings.
This move comes as part of Vi’s broader commitment to enriching user experience and bringing next-gen connectivity to high-impact environments.
By ensuring reliable and fast connectivity during one of the country’s most celebrated sporting events, Vi is redefining how fans engage with live cricket, whether it’s through seamless streaming, sharing highlights in real time, or enhanced in-stadium interactivity.
