Mumbai: A telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially launched its 5G services in Mumbai, bringing next-generation connectivity to millions of users in the city. With this rollout, Vi aims to enhance mobile experiences with widespread coverage, superior performance, and competitive pricing.
Vi’s 5G services will be available starting today, backed by its strong spectrum holding and significant investment in next-generation infrastructure. The company has partnered with Nokia to integrate the latest energy-efficient 5G technology, ensuring a sustainable and high-performance network. Additionally, Vi has deployed AI-based SON (Self-Organizing Networks), which continuously optimizes network performance to deliver the best possible consumer experience.
As part of its introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited 5G data to subscribers on plans starting at just ₹299, making it one of the most competitively priced options in the market. The service will significantly improve experiences for streaming, gaming, OTT apps, video calls, and downloads.
Vi’s 4G network has already been recognized for delivering the best mobile experience in Mumbai, as per a recent OpenSignal report. The launch of Vi 5G further strengthens its commitment to high-speed data and seamless connectivity, catering to the growing demand for real-time cloud access, HD streaming, and high-performance gaming.
In the past 12 months, Vi has raised equity of ~₹26,000 Crore, including India’s largest FPO of ₹18,000 Crore and a ₹4,000 Crore contribution from promoters. With planned capex investments of ₹50,000-55,000 Crore over three years, the company is working towards:
