Chennai: Film lyricist and poet Vairamuthu, who will be awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan title this year, said he will work harder to foster Tamil literature and society, while expressing his resolve to complete an Eelam book at the earliest.
Vairamuthu said he had miles to go, and that the award would spur him to work more for Tamil literature and Tamil society.
He has written 36 books, his novel Kallikaattu Ithihaasam, bagging the Sahitya Akademi award in 2003.
He said he was undertaking research for the Eelam work.
Vairamuthu has written over 7,500 Tamil film songs.
He had recently urged the Union government to declare Tirukkural, the work of Tamil sage Thiruvalluvar, as a national book.
