New Delhi: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwani Vaishnaw, announced that India will host the prestigious World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit in Goa from the 20th to the 24th, November 2024, marking a significant event for the global Media and Entertainment sector.
The Minister stated that the media and entertainment (M&E) world is currently undergoing a structural change with significant technology infusion.
According to him, this transformation presents numerous opportunities but has also raised concerns among some stakeholders struggling to adapt. He emphasized the role of public policy aligned with Prime Minister m Narendra Modi’s vision in maximizing the benefits of this structural shift. The Minister affirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the entire M&E ecosystem in navigating these changes.
Addressing strategies to achieve these goals, he emphasized the Government’s focus on enhancing employment and fostering talent in the sector through both structural reforms and procedural initiatives. These efforts aim to cultivate an environment conducive to high-quality content creation while safeguarding intellectual property rights, positioning India as a global leader in content creation.
He stressed the necessity for cohesive collaboration among the M&E industry, financial sector, and technology realm, advocating for well-considered policy interventions. Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about joint efforts between the government and industry stakeholders in advancing these objectives.
Regarding the upcoming events, he highlighted that the WAVES Summit and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) complement each other, with WAVES focusing on inputs and IFFI showcasing outputs. He underscored that this convergence will establish Goa as a pivotal hub for creativity and talent, reinforcing its reputation as a center for innovation and artistic expression.
