NEW DELHI: Norway-based Telenor’s India unit Uninor has named Tanveer Mohammad as its new Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to this, Mohammad was the chief technology officer at Grameenphone, Telenor Group’s operating company in Bangladesh, which is also the largest mobile operator in that country.
“Tanveer joins us at Uninor as we are setting the stage for some bold growth and expansion in India. Uninor’s largest ever network expansion is already underway and our focus on offering cheapest internet will see some new solutions on the network side too,” Morten Karlsen Sorby, CEO of Uninor, said in a statement.
Tanveer succeeds Uninor’s present COO Ruza Sabanovic, who moves to the Telenor Group headquarters in Oslo to take up the position of the Head of Group Technology.
Earlier, Uninor’s chief financial officer Vivek Sood was appointed the CEO of Grameenphone, while chief sales officer Sharad Mehrotra took up the position of chief marketing officer of Telenor Myanmar. Chief financial officer Prasoon Sinha moved to the Group Headquarters as vice president and head of dynamic performance management.
The company said that 29 of Uninor’s executives have taken up positions across Telenor Group’s operations in Asia and Europe.
