Twitter has launched a new pre-roll Periscope video offering for publishers and brands seeking to monetise live content, assuring marketers it will offer brand-safe video advertising.
The live video streaming service for iOS and Android will allow brands to advertise with publishers and content creators on live videos and via the Twitter timeline.
The new pre-roll videos will appear to users the same way Twitter’s current video works – when users scroll through their timeline or search an account the Periscope videos will start with a short ad.
To allay brand safety concerns, particularly as brands around the world continue to pull their ads from platforms such as YouTube, Twitter said: “For marketers, they have a new source of brand-safe video advertising beyond what was previously available, including ads during live streaming programs from select premium publishers, Promoted Tweets with Periscope video and custom Amplify campaigns with premium content creators.”
