Hyderabad : TV9 Telugu, the most popular news channel owned by Associated Broadcasting Company Pvt Ltd, has registered 100% growth in viewership among the Telugu audience, after its signals were restored by the Telangana MSOs based on a direction from Telecom Dispute Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).
The analysis of viewership ratings of TV9 Telugu during the ban period of July to October and post restoration of signals during the 1st week of November shows that the channel has improved the viewership to greater extent where by the ratings of the news channel almost doubled that of what it was delivering in the ban period.
The average weekly GRP of TV9 Telugu during the ban period was ranging around 70 to 75 GRPs (from Seemandra, where it was visible) and ever since the channel’s signals were restored by MSOs in Telangana during the mid of November, the channel has gradually grown and 142 GRP (in total AP market) during the week 51, which is almost 100% growth when compared with the average GRP (70 to 75) generated during the ban period.
TV9 Telugu has witnessed a gradual week-by-week growth pattern since the mid of November where by the weekly average GRP has increased from 77 in week 44, to 81 in week 45, to 97 in week 46, to 108 in week 47, to 114 in week 49, to 124 in week 50 and 142 in week 51. The channel has delivered an average of 133 GRP in 1st week of 2015.
Earlier, the signals of TV9 Telugu and ABN Andhrajyothi were pulled off by MSOs of Telangana based on the instigation of the ruling govt that prompted the channel to approach the regulator TDSAT in Delhi, the six month long ordeal ended in favour of TV9 and the signals were restored based on the direction of TDSAT after a written affidavit filed by the Telangana government, assuring for the restoration and necessary protection to MSO.
The steady growth in viewership ratings also reveals that reach enjoyed by TV9 Telugu among Telangana audience also and it rules the Telugu speaking audience in both AP and Telangana.
