Mumbai:Life is better when you’re laughing. And you will experience this with &TV’s new weekend comedy series titled Comedy Dangal, which will see the two genres of comedy, Skit and Stand-up, battle it out to make people laugh! With Bharti Singh and Anu Mallik as judges, they have carefully hand-picked their teams and are preparing them for the biggest dangal on television. This battle of comedy will not just explore various themes but also present distinct performances by well-known artists from the entertainment industry. Produced by Optimystix, Comedy Dangal premieres on August 12, and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9.00 PM only on &TV.
An hour-long laughter riot, Comedy Dangal will give the audience a one of its kind experience as the artists from Anu Malik’s Akhada and Bharti’s Tabela challenge each other through tongue-in-cheek punch-lines and theme based slapstick humour. Based on the comic timing and impact of the punches, kicks and tricks, the judges will announce the winning performance of the episode. By the end of the season the team with the highest score will be crowned as the winner of Comedy Dangal.

The show will see a mix of new age and reputed stand-up comedians battle it out with established TV personalities bringing forth the much-needed diversity in the genre of comedy. With Bharti Singh and Anu Malik leading the show as mentors and judges, the bar is raised for a comic duel.”
Talking about the show Anu Malik, who will lead the skit team, said, “It is said that if you aren’t laughing, you are not living your life right. This is the mantra I follow given my hectic lifestyle. It was my liking and love for the genre that drove me to take up Comedy Dangal. &TV has been instrumental in presenting innovative content since its inception and through this show they are cementing its thought further and I am really happy to have marked my debut in the genre of comedy with them for a show like Comedy Dangal. I am all geared up with my squad of comedians, the skit team who will represent Anu Malik’s Akhada, for a fun and laughter filled extravaganza.”
Bharti Singh, who will lead the stand-up team, said added further, “Coming from the background of comedy, I have been part of many shows based on different concepts… but Comedy Dangal is quite unique. I am glad that &TV has thought of bringing the best forms of comedy under one roof. I have been judged for my comic timing numerous times and it feels good now that I have graduated as a judge. It’s my turn now to give marks to people and main chun chun ke badla lungi. Jokes apart, as a leader and mentor of stand-up team, my focus would be to maintain the essence of the form and at the same time experiment with newer avenues with only one intension of making viewers laugh!”
Comedy Dangal will be loaded with fun and laughter, countless punches and hilarious moments as the two best forms of comedy – Stand-up and Skit will be at a war against each other. As a part of the stand-up comedy team, the audience will get to see the likes of Amit Tandon, Abhijit Ganguly, Manan Desai, Jeeveshu Ahlluwalia, Jimmy, Rehman amongst others who are known to most of the audience through their acts online and on-air. On the other hand, the audience will see Anita Hasnandani, Rajesh Kumar, Surbhi Jyoti, Mahi Vij, Shikha Singh and others who have made the audience laugh, cry, love and hate characters with their top-notch portrayals in popular soaps.
