Dhaka: Eccho Rights has announced two new deals on the Turkish drama series Elif. The show was licensed for airing in Bangladesh and Georgia market and it has also been sold into 16 territories globally.
The daily series, from producer Green Yapim, is currently in its third season on Kanal 7 in Turkey. In Bangladesh, the show will begin airing on Deepto TV in the new year. The drama was also licensed into Georgia, in a deal with Imedi.
Elif has already had a strong performance across Latin America, with notable success on TVN in Chile and Caracol in Colombia.
“Elif is a truly phenomenal success,” said Handan Özkubat, the head of Eccho Rights’ Istanbul office. “When the series started in Turkey two years ago it did very well, and then after it had its international breakthrough in Indonesia and the Balkans last year, we knew it was something very special. The way the viewing figures continue to be consistently high wherever it is aired shows the universal power of great storytelling.”
Turkish drama’s are expanding to new international territories. In India Zee group owned Zindagi Channel is airing many Turkish Show like Kuzhy Guney, Feriha, Fatmagul etc. On the other hand Star India’s fiction show “Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon” got dubbed in Turkish and aired on Kanal 7. Turkish state broadcaster TRT has signed content collaboration pact with Prasar Bharati during April 2016.
