MUMBAI: ‘Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar’ claimed the title of ‘Album of The Year’ at the the Mirchi Music Awards. This year’s edition showcased music across categories and genres, spanning film, indie, raag, technical excellence, and the highly coveted Listener’s Choice Awards.
Pritam shared, “Each award honours the efforts of innumerable people who contribute to a film’s music album. It’s always nice to be acknowledged at the Mirchi Music Awards for the love and work we put into each song. My sincere appreciation to the listeners and the entire crew. Meanwhile, ‘Besharam Rang’ from ‘Pathaan’ bagged the honour of ‘Song of The Year,’ a track that had many grooving to its tunes. The song’s success didn’t stop there, as it also earned the ‘Female Vocalist of The Year’ award, shared by Shilpa Rao and Caralisa Monteiro, as well as the ‘Music Composer of The Year’ award, which went to the dynamic duo Vishal-Sheykhar for their brilliant composition. “Creating music that resonates with listeners is a reward in itself, but receiving this honor at the Mirchi Music Awards adds to the joy. It motivates the both of us to keep pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds. A big thank you to our fans, the jury, and everyone who’s been part of this musical journey,” shared Vishal-Sheykhar on this win.
In the Listener’s Choice Awards category, the album ‘Animal’ emerged as the ‘Listener’s Choice Album of the Year.’ It featured singers, including Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam, and more, and compositions by Ashim Kemson, Bhupinder Babbal, and others
In the Listener’s Choice Song of the Year category, ‘Phir Aur Kya Chahiye’ from ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ was crowned the winner. It was sung by Arijit Singh and Sachin-Jigar, with music by Sachin-Jigar and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Bhattacharya shared, “Kalaakaar qadardaan ke bina kuchh nahin. Thank you Mirchi Music Awards for appreciating, celebrating and felicitating my work over the years. Love & gratitude always.”
On the independent music front, Labon Se Baat by Shekhar Ravjiani, Madhubanti Bagchi, and Rishabh Sharma won the ‘Indie Song of the Year’ title. The romantic ‘Mahiye Jinna Sohna’ by Darshan Raval was awarded the ‘Listener’s Choice Indie Song of the Year.’ Expressing his gratitude, Darshan Raval stated, “This is a very surreal experience for me and my songs to be recognised at such a platform. It’s a validation of the love and hard work that goes into every note, every lyric. I’m deeply grateful to my fans, my team, and my mentor Naushad bhai who’s supported me along the way.”
Meanwhile, ‘Rut Badle’, sung by Om Bongane, triumphed in the ‘Raag Inspired Song of the Year’ category, celebrating classical music.
Commenting on the songwriting process, lyricist Kumaar remarked, “Every song begins as a simple thought, and to see it come alive and resonate with so many people is immensely fulfilling. Winning at the Mirchi Music Awards is not just a personal achievement but a celebration of everyone who believed in the power of these lyrics.”

The judging panel of the Mirchi Music Awards included figures in the music industry. Among them were playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, film director Ramesh Sippy, music director Lalit Pandit, rapper and lyricist Raftaar, singer and composer Papon, singer and music director Shekhar Ravjiani, and singer and composer Leslie Lewis – each contributing their experience and insight to commemorate excellence in music.
