Mumbai: BARC report recently released, the highest watched English movies aired on TV in the year 2017. The American fantasy adventure film “Big Friendly Giant” that was a world blockbuster hit, garnered 257 impressions (in 000’s) during its Television premier on Zee Studio. Mark Rylance played the role of the 24ft giant and Ruby Barnhill was seen as the human orphan girl named Sophie. The movie was directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the novel authored by Roald Dahl back in 1989. The story revolves around, an orphan human girl, where she befriends a benevolent giant, dubbed the “Big Friendly Giant”, who takes her to Giant Country, where they attempt to stop the man-eating giants that are invading the human world. The movie not only attracted kids but audience at all ages applauded the film.
Following BFG the highest watched English movie in 2017 is the Oscar nominated movie, Will Smith starrer science fiction action film i ROBOT, directed by Alex Proyas. The film is set in the year 2035 when everyone is dependent on robots that are programmed to help make human life easier. The movie was a visual treat to techies as it involves robots , artificial intelligence and scientific stuff making it a full packed science fiction action movie. i ROBOT is seen garnering 245 impressions ( in 000’s) on its television debut on Star Movies.
With 236 impressions (in 000’s) Suicide Squad stands at the 3 place among top 5 highest watched English movies on TV, during its television premier on HBO. The Oscar winning movie features Will Smith as the superhero and Jared Leto as the psychopathic super-villain amongst many others in prominent roles. The film is based on the DC Comics antihero team of the same name, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Kung Fu Panda 3, was one of those much awaited films of the year, the 3D computer-animated action-comedy takes the audience of all ages to a fun filled ride with all the fun the Pandas perform with the ” Kung Fu” martial arts.
