Titan Company unveiled the consumer insight report for Valentine’s Day 2020 covering views and opinion of couples from five metros. According to the research, there was a comparative study conducted where respondents were asked to decipher the various trends on how couples express love, spend ‘our-time’ and their approach to choose the right partner and top gifts they prefer receiving on Valentine’s Day.
Express Love
According to the study, (52%) couples believe that spending quality time is the best way to express love whereas, (36%) couples express it by surprising their partner with gift. While it’s interesting to note that (33%) couplesprefer physical intimacy over the other two.
Social Media
In this digital era, where people buzz about every little detail of their lives on social media, 37% married people think that posting pictures on social media is the best way of expressing love. On the other hand, 25% unmarried people think that posting and expressing on social media is not a good way of expressing love.
Valentine’s Day as an occasion
When it comes to couples celebrating Valentine’s Day, 66% married people value the occasion and consider it to be a very important day in terms of express love while the excitement for the day was seen a bit low at 36% amongst the unmarried couples.
Quality Time
Given the worked-up lifestyle, it gets difficult to move out over the weekend and thus, when it comes to spending some ‘our-time’, couples prefer spending relaxed time at home and indulging in hobbies like working out together.
Decision on choosing the right partner
Opinion is divided when it comes to making a decision on choosing the right partner. 50% people agree thatdating a person before getting married is the ideal way. They are not conservative, with just 36% people agreeing on arranged marriages as the best approach when it comes to choosing the right partner. At the same time only 32% people think that it is important to live-in before getting married.
Gifting on Valentine’s Day
As the occasion is all about celebrating love, couples look out for different ways to make their partners feel special. Amongst hundreds of things, the research revealed, gifting chocolates to both men and women never goes out of trend. Jewellery and apparels are also considered popular gifts for women while when it comes to gifting men, gadgets take the lead.
This project was initiated to understand consumer sentiments around Valentine’s Day 2020 –Ways to express love, importance of the occasion, how couple spend time together, approach to decide the right life partner and valentine gifts. Thedata was collected through online/mobile surveys.
