Chennai: English News Channel Times NOW has decided to stand firmly in support of its recent news coverage that exposed the involvement of Top Cops and Health Minister of Tamil Nadu in Gutka Scam, wherein they were in the payrolls of the MDM Gutka for letting the company to flourish its trade without any restrictions in Tamil Nadu.
Though the TN Health minister rubbished the accusation. Top Cops TK Rajendran and S George join hands together and sent legal notices for defamation to Times NOW. The Legal Notices issued to 1) MK Anand, MD & CEO, 2) Rahul Shivshankar, Editor-in-Chief, 3) AnandNarasimhan, Senior Editor, 4) Navika Kumar, Managing Director and 5) ShabbirAhamed, Principal Correspondent in South Region. Incidentally, the same advocate has sent the legal notice on behalf of both the cops.
However, sources from Times NOW revealed that the channel’s legal team would be dealing with the notices in appropriate manner as they have enough documentary evidence from various sources to support their News coverage. Times NOW also recently exposed the MLAs horse-trading scam during the political turmoil between OPS and Sasikala’s Mannargudi Gang.
Earlier, The startling revelations on Gutka Scam came to light through the documents released by the Income Tax department based on the raids conducted at the premises of MDM Gutka. Times NOW exposed the same with an extensive coverage. The expose has created ripples in the political circles of Tamil Nadu and it reflected in ongoing assembly session also.
Today, DMK has creates ruckus in TN Assembly and stages a walkout over Gutkha scam. DMK wanted to know on what basis TK Rajendran was appointed as DGP, who cleared his name when there are allegations against him. The speaker denied permission for a debate.
DMK also alleges that by appointing tainted officer TK Rajendran as DGP, they doubt that there could be more unnamed people involved in the Gutkha scam.
