Chennai: Times Network has elevated Shabbir Ahmed as Deputy Editor and Bureau Chief of Tamil Nadu as part of its plan to increase its focus towards South based issues.
With this new role Shabbir will be expected to play an expanded role with proactively covering all major developments in Chennai and Rest of Tamil Nadu and he might also be supporting teams across South India during the coverage of issues with high importance and Election Coverage.
Tamil Nadu has been heartland of issues with national importance like Jayalalitha’s Demise, Save Jallikattu protest and ongoing power struggle in TN Political corridors and farmer’s suicide issues. During all these issues ShabbirAhamed and his team played and extensive role in covering the issues seamlessly and stood above others in providing hands on information to the viewers that kept them tuned to the channel for hours. The promotion is part of the network’s recognition and acknowledgement of his work.

Shabbir Ahmed’s travel is equally interesting as he started off his career as a News Paper Vendor cum Ad Sales executive for a Vernacular. He went on to scale up in his life with various Newspapers and later moved in to NDTV Hindu News Channel and sharpened his English language skills. Prior to joining Time NOW he was working for Headline Today.
