Coimbatore: The owners of three Local Cable TV channels were arrested by the Coimbatore unit of the intellectual property rights enforcement for telecasting new Tamil films across various towns in Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu.
According to the sources three Local Cable Channels Sivam TV and Boss TV both based in Dharapuram, and Crystal TV based in Udumalpet were booked for illegally broadcasting new movies without having copyright. While Crystal TV and Sivam TV broadcasted tamil movie ‘Enakku Vaitha Adimai’, Boss TV showed Vijay-starrer ‘Kathi’.
The arrest was made based on the complaints from the respective film producers in Chennai. The enforcement wing booked Lakshmanan of Sivam TV and Sivakumar of Udumalpet based on the complaint from Rajasirpi and Pradeep of Boss TV was booked based on the complaint filed by film producer Ravi.
According to Police sources, these Local Cable Channels were accused of repeatedly telecasting newly launched Tamil movies illegally to attract more viewers. Police arrested Lakshmanan and Pradeep. Sivakumar was absconding.
All the three cases were registered under various sections including 3, 8A 15 (3) of Tamil Nadu Arasu cable TV Act and The cable TV network (regulation) act 1984.
The sleuths raided the offices of the channels before sealing the offices and seized many equipment.
