Chennai: The 14th edition of The Hindu November Fest comes to the cities of Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad this month. From November 15-25, The Hindu November Fest will have performances in Chennai (Nov 15-18), Bengaluru (Nov 16-18) and Hyderabad (Nov 23-25) across genres from Hindustani, Classical, Fusion to Bollywood and more. Featuring internationally acclaimed artists like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath, Abhishek Raghuram, Staccato and others, this year will yet again be a true celebration of eclectic music.
As a prelude to the December Margazhi season in Chennai, The Hindu November Fest that has featured over 80 musicians over the past 14 years will begin in the city. With great line-up and music that transcends boundaries, the opening act in Chennai will feature Ustad Amjad Ali Khan with ‘Sarod for Harmony’. Other performances include ‘Yatra: a journey within’ by Bombay Jayashri Ramnath and Abhishek Raghuram, ‘Double Edge’ featuring Staccato and IndoSoul and ‘Cinema Soul’ by Rekha Bhardwaj at Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Mukund Padmanabhan, Editor of The Hindu and curator of The Hindu November Fest says, “Since its inception, the Fest has not only brought together artistes from different genres but also provided them a platform to experiment. Such collaborations have gone beyond jugalbandis, and we have tried to showcase, wherever possible, a new sound. A good example is the concert of late Mandolin Srinivas and Chineseyangqin player, Liu Yueninh, which we staged in 2011. It was an evening during which they bent genres, melded styles, and spoke the same musical language. It is this sort of eclecticism that has made The Hindu November Fest what it is.”
Each year, The Hindu November Fest, South India’s most eclectic music festival, brings together an audience of over 8000 music enthusiasts, from the ages of 20 to 45 years, across the major cities of Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
This year, The Hindu November Fest is being powered by HDFC and the other sponsors include Hyundai, Joyalukkas, Indian Terrain, Apollo Hospitals, Nippon Paint, Girias, International Village School and ID Fresh Foods. Fever FM is the radio partner and I Ads and Events is the event partner.
