MUMBAI: Films released in February 2025 grossed ₹1,245 Crores at the domestic box office. The Ormax Media India Box Office Report: February 2025 has been published.
The other findings include:
- The cumulative box office for Jan-Feb releases in 2025 stands at Rs. 2,264 Crores, which is 39% higher compared to the same period in 2024.
- ‘Chhaava’ emerged as the top film of the month, contributing more than half of the month’s total box office
- ‘Re-releases of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ and ‘Interstellar’ performed well, securing sports among the top 10 highest-grossing films of the month
After a strong start in January 2025, the Indian box office sustained the momentum in February 2025, grossing at the domestic box office, including projected future collections of February releases still running in theatres. Hindi film ‘Chhaava’ alone contributed 53% of the month’s box office. Only Hindi language box office for ‘Chhaava’ have been considered in this report, since the film’s Telugu version was released in March 2025.
The cumulative box office for 2025 releases stands at Rs. 2264 Crores, which is 39% higher than the same period in 2024. This has also been the highest-grossing February post-pandemic.
‘Chhaava’ has emerged as the top-grossing film of the month, grossing over ₹650 Crores, thereby becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. The only other film to cross the Rs. 100 Crores mark in February 2025 is the Tamil film Dragon, which has emerged as a breakout hit, grossing even more than the big-budget Tamil film Vidaamuyarchi.
With the addition of ‘Thandel’ in February, there are currently four Telugu films in the list of the highest-grossing films of 2025 so far. The list features three films each from both Hindi & Tamil languages.
For language share calculation, language-wise box office of films releasing in multiple languages is assigned to the corresponding language. However, for Hollywood, the data for all languages is reported under the language head ‘Hollywood’.
Owing to the performance of ‘Chhaava’, Hindi’s language share has jumped to 45% for Jan-Feb 2025, compared to 40% for the calendar year 2024.
