Mumbai: Tech Mahindra has named N Dilip Venkatraman as the Global Head- Media & Entertainment. He will be reporting to Manish Vyas, Global President, CME and CP Gurnani, CEO & MD.
A media veteran with more than 20+ years’ experience, Venkatraman held the position of Group COO- Strategy and Business Development at ITV Network. During his tenure with ITV Network, he revamped the digital strategy of the entire network, relaunched newsx.com, inkhabhar.com, Sunday guardian and has led the acquisition of an iconic American Media brand.
Venkatraman’s new role is a significant development in the Indian Media and Entertainment space since a CEO from Media space had entered into a Technology space.
During 2005-2013 he was the Chief Executive Officer at CNN-IBN & IBN7 where he was responsible for the strategic, financial and operational management of the channels. He managed the overall operations of IBN focus, the alternative media solutions unit that developed a context for brands through customized content, using a 360-degree approach. He was also responsible for all brand communication for the corporate brand Network18.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Venkatraman started his career with the India Today Group where he was part of the core team which conceived and launched Newspapertoday.com.
He played a major role in conceptualizing, developing, and launching 2424- India’s first 2 way nationwide SMS shortcode for Aaj Tak.
He held the position of Head of Brand Management at Zee News where he repositioned Zee News with ‘Haqeeqat Jaisi Khabar Waisi’ baseline. Venkatraman was also the President of Marketing at Dish TV.
