Mumbai: Bringing theatre enthusiasts, a chance to watch the most celebrated, award-winning plays from the comfort of their homes, Tata Sky Theatre in partnership with Zee Theatre is now set to premiere the most gripping, unconventional play of Marathi theatre,‘Natsamrat’ featuring Mohan Joshi and Rohini Hattangadi to allow its viewers to experience nostalgia and rejoice their favourite play.
First staged in 1970, the iconic Marathi play ‘Natsamrat’ has seen many runs over the years with several theatre stalwarts in lead roles. It was also adapted into a film which received multiple accolades and has been well-received by the audience across the country. ‘Natsamrat’, first Marathi play to be premiered on the channel, portrays the story of a veteran actor Ganpat Belwalkar who must choose between a successful past and the realities of being a father to ungrateful children. The play focuses on his struggle to survive the present after being disowned by his own children and deprived of love.
