Chennai: The highly anticipated Hockey India League (HIL) is set to return after an eight-year break, bringing with it an exciting new chapter in India’s hockey history. Scheduled to begin on 28th December 2024 and conclude with the Finals on 1st February 2025, the revamped league promises to be bigger and better, as it continues to capture the attention of hockey fans across the nation.
This year, the league will be hosted at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha, the same venue that showcased the 2023 Hockey World Cup, adding even more significance to the event. The tournament will feature 8 teams from all over India competing for the coveted trophy, showcasing the nation’s top hockey talent.
In a historic move, the Tamil Nadu Dragons will make their debut in the league, marking Tamil Nadu’s first-ever representation in the prestigious competition. The launch will feature Jose Charles Martin, Owner of the Tamil Nadu Dragons, alongside Sekar J Mancharan, Treasurer of Hockey India and President of the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, who will introduce the team and share future plans for the Tamil Nadu Dragons.
