From solar energy solutions to functional, eco-conscious furniture, tech-innovations and even activism, the second day of Kyoorius Designyatra 2019 left the 1050+ delegates at India’s biggest design conference with plenty of food for thought regarding design application.
While filmmaker Anna Ginsburg wowed the delegates with a bold, sensitive and thought-provoking session on celebrating individual beauty and sexuality, iconic and influential graphic designer Paul Sahre’s talk about his career, and his design process, left Kyoorius Designyatra speechless and spell-bound.
Sustainability was a running theme through talks by award-winning inventory and solar designer Marjan van Aubel, artist and designer Ada Sokol, Indian furniture designer Aakriti Kumar (Differniture) and more. Talks on design craft by illustrator James Jirat Patradoon, graphic artist, printmaker and designer Anthony Burrill, and designer, technologist and innovator Orlando Mathias gave the delegates several insights and inspiration to help improve their skills and sensibilities. Young stalwarts such as the eighteen-year-old tech innovator Madhav Lavakare and twenty-four year old typographer and graphic designer Stefan Hürlemann stunned the delegates with their truly contrarian work.
The theme for the Kyoorius Designyatra 2019 is “#OnTheContrary”, and aims to unravel why design owes its biggest successes to contrarian thinking.
Rajesh Kejriwal, Founder CEO of Kyoorius says, “It took us over a year to curate the speakers here, and all that hard work certainly has paid off. The 14th edition of Kyoorius Designyatra allows the participants to not only discuss the latest trends in creativity, brand, design and digital but also creates a unique pool of varied creative minds from across the world.
