Chennai: The Board of Directors of The Hindu Group, India’s most trusted media house, has announced the appointment of Suresh Nambath as Editor of The Hindu, with effect from March 1, 2019.
Having played an integral role for over 22 years in multiple verticals of bringing out the newspaper, Suresh’s contributions towards the making of this iconic brand of 140 years has been vital. His continued leadership and coordinating role on news as well as editorial and opinion sides has long been an asset to the brand.
Mr. Nambath joined The Hindu as Principal Correspondent covering Tamil Nadu politics in October 1996; served as Tamil Nadu Bureau Chief between July 2006 and February 2012; and was promoted to Senior Associate Editor and Coordinating Editor in March 2014. He has been the National Editor of The Hindu since October 2015 and deputising for the Editor in his absence.
The Board of Directors of The Hindu Publishing Group, unanimously favoured Mr. Nambath for this position as Editor. His outstanding leadership capabilities, integrity, sharp political perspective and many-sided journalistic experience are sure to steer The Hindu editorially to a brighter future.
