Starring Hollywood heavyweights- Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Shailene Woodley, drama series ‘ Big Little Lies ’premieres this Tuesday, February 21st at 10 PM on Star World Premiere HD
Mumbai: Two of Hollywood’s biggest names -Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon mark their grand television debut, along with tinsel town’s renowned actor from The Fault in Our Stars Shailene Woodley, to champion female empowerment in the upcoming show ‘Big Little Lies’.
Star World Premiere HD, India’s leading English entertainment, is renowned for bringing the most critically acclaimed, star-studded and award-winning shows to Indian television is now all set to premiere one of the most awaited series of the year – Big Little Lies this Tuesday, February 21st at 10 PM.
Based on Liane Moriarty’s best selling novel, the seven-episode series is a dark dramedy that follows three mothers of kinder garteners whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder.
A star studded affair, the show comprises of a dynamic cast including Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, Parks and Recreation fame Adam Scott, Jurassic Park fame Laura Dern and Alexander Skarsgard of True Blood and The Legend of Tarzan fame among others.
To add to the list of renowned names associated with the series, Oscar winner Jean-Marc Vallée of the multi-award winning movies ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and ‘Wild’stepped in to direct Big Little Lies along with writer David E. Kelley of the Golden Globe winning ‘Goliath’ fame. Megawatt stars Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon had some big shoes to fill as they assumed responsibilities as executive producers of the show apart from doing their bit as actors on the series.
Witherspoon backed out of the movie Downsizing, directed by two-time Oscar winner Alexander Payne and Kidman turned down a part in the upcoming DC movie Wonder Woman to work on this show. Jean-Marc Vallée was approached by Reese personally since they had worked on the Oscar winning movie ‘Wild’ together. Jean who was initially going to direct only two episodes, eventually directed the entire show, and approached it as one long movie.
Now a limited series, Big Little Lies is being heaped with praises by critics the world over. Newsweek said, “HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’ leaves TV’s male anti-hero era behind” while Entertainment Weekly praised the actors, “Kidman and Woodley deliver moving portraits of still-life women, paralyzed by trauma and avoidance. Witherspoon is marvelous in a rare role that allows for comedy and drama”
It also explore society’s myth of perfection and the contradictions that exist beneath the idealized facade of marriage, sex, parenting and friendship in this gripping HBO limited series.
