Chennai: Star India is planning to launch a Music Channel in Tamil regional market that is expected to go on air from mid of January 2020.
Apparently, the proposed launch date coincides with the auspicious and festive occasion of Pongal in TamilNadu. As per the market sources the channel has started its test run from asiasat [email protected].
The launch is part of its strategy to exploit the fondness of Tamil audience towards Film based content. With this addition, the bouquet of channel offered by Star India in Tamil will reach to three apart from Star Sports Tamil.
Apparently, Star Vijay Music will compete with market leaders in Tamil Music Channel space that includes ‘IsaiAruvi’ from Kalaignar TV Network, ‘Sun Music’ from Sun TV Network, Mega Musiq – part of Mega TV Network, Jaya MAX – part of Jaya TV Network, Raj Musix – part of Raj Television Network.
The market also has small players like MK Tunes, Sahana, Tunes 6, Channel UFX and SS Music.
