Mumbai: BCCI media rights has been bagged by Star Sports India for an eye popping 6138.1 crores Rupees. Star India has managed to retain its media rights after a three day long bidding war with Sony Pictures India Network and Reliance Jio Infocomm. It took a whole of 6138.1 crores for the channel to win this stiff competition.
The online auction process of the BCCI India International and Domestic Cricket media rights for the period from 15th April 2018 till the 31st March 2023 commenced on Tuesday, April 03, 2018 at the BCCI headquarters. Though on the first day the e-auction stopped at Rs. 4442 crore, in the second day the bidding intensified furthermore and the last bid closed at Rs. 6,032 crore making a per match value of Rs. 59.14 crore.
The bidding process for the 102-game BCCI FTP over the next five years (2018-2023) had its e- auction taking place today at the last day of bidding. The auction opened on Day Three with the bidding offer of Rs.6,085.30 crore which witnessed a raise of Rs.26.4 crore within minutes.
Finally after the hectic bidding war Star India has won the BCCI domestic media rights at the highest Rs. 6,138.1 for the Consolidated Rights package, making an average of Rs. 60.1 crore per game.
The other stiff competitors for the media rights included Sony Pictures India Network and new player Reliance Jio to name a few.
“Congratulations @StarSportsIndia on bagging the BCCI Media Rights @ 6138.1 crores at an average of 60.1 crore per game,” BCCI acting treasurer Anirudh Chaudhury posted on Twitter.

The BCCI had called a Press conference at 5 PM for the official announcement on this.
