Mumbai : Star India is likely to make some important internal announcements to its entire staff in a meeting scheduled at 4 pm today (Wednesday, 13th April).
As reported earlier by tvnews4u.com on the proposed internal re-structuring on the article reporting the appointment of Ashok Nambhoodiri, the company has organised a town-hall today and all the 138 offices of the company will be linked via video conferencing.
This is for the first time that an announcement is going to be made on such a large scale in the history of Star India and It is expected to be something big.
Star India was working on restructuring the business in the country. The company had handed over the mandate of creating the blueprint of the restructuring to the high profile strategy firm, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). It is learnt that BCG India has completed the exercise that was led by a senior partner from the global strategy group.
While the details on the scope of the mandate are sketchy, highly placed sources say it could involve senior level changes in the broadcaster’s top echelons of management and Indian managers could get expanded roles in Asia-Pacific regions.
Growing rapidly under the leadership of current CEO Uday Shankar, the company has become India’s leading broadcaster reaching approximately 650 million viewers a month.
Rupert and his son James Murdoch have time and again praised the company’s India business, guiding that Star India will achieve an operating profit of $500 million by 2018 and $1 billion by end of 2020.
The company generates 20,000 hours of content every year and broadcasts 51 channels in 8 different languages across 100 countries across the Middle East and North Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, spanning general entertainment, sports, movies, and regional entertainment. It also owns digital video on demand service Hotstar, which boasts of over 45 million downloads in one year.
