Mumbai: Star Gold reinforces its positioning as the Home of Blockbusters with the World Television Premiere of Rajinikanth’s megahit movie “Kabali”
Premiering on 20th November 2016 at 1:00 pm, the film is touted as Rajinikanth’s best film in years replete with trademark catchphrases and elaborate monologs delivered with utmost rapidity in true Rajini style.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, the action-flick not only celebrates the presence of Thalaiva in all new avatar as an aging don but also features great performances of Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan and John Vijay making it a riveting watch.
‘Kabali’ unfolds an emotional side of Kabaleeshwar (played by Rajinikanth) and revolves around him finding his family which he never knew existed. The film showcases what Rajini does to get back his lost life and how he achieves his prime task, for which he was jailed for two decades. How he fights to save his world and help people forms the crux of ‘Kabali’.
The first premier of Kabali took place during Diwali festival on Asianet, which aired the Tamil Version.
Made with the budget of Rs 100 crore, the movie was also released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. The movie grossed Rs. 87.5 crore from its three versions to become the biggest Indian opener. Although the film received mixed reviews, it went on to reportedly make over Rs 300 crore at the global box office.
The interesting part of the story is that Kabali grossed over Rs 100 crore alone in the overseas market. It did well in the United States, Malaysia and the UK.
