The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced upon a lot of changes. These are changes that none of us ever expected, neither as consumers nor as businesses.
OTT viewership has spiked during the lockdown and binge-watching is at its ultimate peak. On the other hand the lockdown has brought a very difficult challenge for broadcasters as content production and shoots are shut down.
According to the BARC India’s viewership data for week 12, News channels witnessed a major growth and surpassed GECs in impressions and reach both.
After the lovely comeback of Ramayana on DD National, and broke all the records, certainly showed some direction to other GECs.
Hindi GEC’s are definitely upping their game with bringing back a lot of shows that are definitely going to get us glued to the television screens.
Star Bharat took to Twitter and announced that two of Star Network’s all-time hit shows Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Khichdi will be making a comeback on TV from April 6. The TV shows will now be aired every morning at 10 AM on Star Bharat.

Meanwhile, private Hindi Entertainment channels (GECs) are innovating on their programming strategies as they have no new content in the bank.
COLORS has got shows like Belan Wali Bahu, Bhaag Bakool Bhaag and Bigg Boss 13, which they are telecasting from the start.
Zee TV on their Prime-time slots is telecasting original shows of ALTBalaji; Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai, KarrleTu Bhi Mohabbat, and Baarish. Other Zee popular shows like Brahmarakshak, Kasamh Se, Jamai Raja also make a comeback on the channel. Old episodes of flagship shows like Kundali Bhagya and Kumkum Bhagya are being aired in the evening slot.
Sony TV and Sony SAB too are telecasting their old episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show and Tarak Mehta Ka UltaChashmahapart from their other shows.
