Many Srilankan broadcaster including Derana TV has selected LiveU cellular uplink technology for remote news gathering, the New Jersey’s IP-based live video services and broadcast solutions provider. It has deployed LU500 backpacks and LU-Smart mobile applications which ensure portable video transmission solutions with high definition quality in the country.
LiveU backpacks are considered as the cheapest solution for news broadcasters as an alternative for the costliest uplinking OB Vans.
A few other broadcasters in Srilanka such as MTV Channel and Hiru Television had also replaced timeworn LiveU backpacks to robust LU500s to cover Sri Lankan Presidential Elections held on 8 January 2015. Some firms increased the number of units while others upgraded to support the new technologies, said LiveU in a press statement.
“With LTEsupport and the new smaller LU500 backpack, LiveU was the obvious choice for the elections. Its mobile app for smartphones, LU-Smart, offered an added advantage, enabling us to cover more locations, live, around the country,” said Priyal Udugampola, Director Engineering of MTV Channel, a long time user of LiveU solutions.
“After testing LiveU with alternative solutions, we picked LiveU because of its reliability and video quality together with the 24/7 support provided by the company and local partner,” said Puritha Wijewickrama, Senior Manager IT at Derana TV.
“We have been using LiveU for many years and have now moved to the LU500 unit, which is integrated with the LiveU Central cloud-based management system, giving us easy control and geo-tracking of all our LiveU systems, feeds, and applications from any location,” said Nilupa T. K. Ranaweera, Head of Engineering at Hiru TV.
LiveU backpacks are used by many regional news channels in India and all over the world due to its cost effective and easy to carry Mobile data based broadcast solutions.
