Keshet International has inked a licensing deal with Asia Broadcasting Corporation that will see five seasons of Rising Star premiere on Hiru TV in Sri Lanka.
Through the deal, the interactive talent format will be available on Sri Lanka’s only digitally-enabled HD TV channel. Rising Star is a music show that was originally created and produced by Tedy Productions and Keshet Broadcasting. The five seasons for Hiru TV will consist of 52 episodes of 90-minutes each.
Gary Pudney, the general manager of Keshet International Asia, said, “Rising Star has evolved the talent show genre across Asia, and we are delighted that Asia Broadcasting Corporation and Hiru TV will be bringing it to audiences in Sri Lanka for five full seasons. The success of formats like Rising Star, Prisoners of War and Girlfri3nds across the region has really helped us grow our presence here in Asia and we look forward to seeing many more Keshet International shows in the future.”
Rayynor Silva, the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation, remarked that he is very confident that Rising Star would be a revolution in Sri Lanka and that it would be the first-ever live singing reality show in the country and will take singing reality to the next level.
