Specsmakers, South India’s largest optical retail network inaugurated six new stores on Sun. 24 Oct. 2021. The new stores came up one each at Mysore, Avinashi, Madurai, Chennai and two at Bangalore. The company has 248 operational stores spanning the Southern States of TN, KA, Telangana, AP and Puducherry UT. The company will continue to expand across the southern region.
Specsmakers turned 18 on 23 Oct. 21. Pratik Shah, CEO & Founder said. “It’s been an interesting journey for the past seventeen years and the chain has grown from 1 store, 1 employee all the way to where we are now with over 800+ employees”.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Shriram, Vice President – Sales & Marketing said, “We are quite excited with the new store expansion happening in the company after a short hiatus of about 18 months due to the pandemic.We are very optimistic with the way things have spanned out in the past 3 months post the second wave of the pandemic. We plan to open 5-6 new stores a month going forward and are quite sure to reach the 300-store milestone by end of this fiscal”.
Specsmakers competes with over 45,000 mom-and-pop shops in India, over half of which are in the South.
“We believe the key competition for us is from the neighborhood stores who outnumber the organized players like us by 8-9 times in each city. To counter them, we have launched a new TV commercial which speaks about Trust, Quality and Affordability at Specsmakers. We believe this communication will reach our intended audience and drive footfalls to the stores” added Shriram.
In another novel attempt, the company has launched a new TV commercial showcasing why and how a new pair of “spectacles” is to be a part of this festival season. The TVC feat. two young girls is a conversation of how matching a pair specs with new clothes and footwear is the new trend.
Both the Ads are being featured across top TV channels in the south.
