Chennai : Tamil television industry had lost a great visionary of television media Mr. B. Kailasam, who had set a new standard of television production with his wonderful and memorable creations like ‘Kaialavu Manasu’, ‘Rail Sneham’, ‘Marma Desam’ etc… under his production banner “Minbimbangal”
Veteran director K. Balachander’s son B Kailasam died on Friday 15th August in Chennai. He had been ailing with health-related issues and breathed his last in a private hospital in Chennai. He was suffering from Pneumonia and Lungs failure.
Mr. Kailasam, an engineering graduate, went to the U.S. to study filmmaking with specialisation in audio and sound technology. After he came back , he founded Minbimbangal, his television production company and produced Rail Sneham for Doordarshan Chennai, which was a mega hit serial at that point of time and his “Raghu Vamsam” was the first ever daily serial aired on “Sun TV”
B Kailasam is an extraordinary knowledge bank of creativity and known for his futuristic thinking, through his ideation capability he took “Minbimbangal” to greater heights and produced many trend setting fiction and nonfiction content. From the beginning to end he had his own style of content making which has always attracted the views. Through “Minbimbangal” he had breaded plenty of talented technicians who are making their mark in the present days television industry. He is also regarded as a down person who never showed himself as a son of a legendary director.
The documentary “Vaasathu Marabhugal” produced by Mr Kailasam won National Award and he was the man behind the conceptualization of popular chat show like “Kathayalla Nijam” and Yuhi Sethu’s “Nayyandhi Durbar”
During his assignment with Puthiya Thalaimurai TV, Mr. Kailasam played a brilliant role in designing the look and feel of the newly launched news channel and lined up a set of trendy infotainment programs that impressed the new age television viewers and help the channel to become the No.1 news channel in Tamil Nadu market.
Film and Television fraternity has sent out condolences to the bereaved family. K Balachander the renowned director and producer. He has introduced stars like Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth to film industry. It’s heartrending to see 84-year-old filmmaker bereaved. Balachander has another son Prasanna, and a daughter Pushpa Kandaswamy. While daughter Pushpa heads their production house Kavithalaya Productions, another son Prasanna is a Chartered Accountant, managing director and CEO of a leading investment bank in India.
Aged 54, B Kailasam was married to Geetha and got two children, son Vishnubala and a daughter Vilashini. Hearing about the news, Rajinikanth has sent his condolence from ‘Lingaa’ sets and expected to take part in the last rites and Kamal Haasan came in person to condole the bereaved.
