Mumbai: Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) is all set to broadcast the paramount opener to the Grand Slam competitions in 2018, the Australian Open. The tournament will customarily be played in Melbourne and will be telecast live and exclusive on Sony SIX, Sony SIX HD, Sony TEN 2 and Sony TEN 2 HD and the SonyLIV App starting January 15, 2018 in India.
The 106th edition of the tournament will feature top names like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki amongst other world-class talent. Known as the ‘Fans Slam’, the Australian Open is chronologically the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year. The tournament features men’s and women’s singles as well as men’s, women’s and mixed doubles. The grand slam is played on world-class courts Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena, Margaret Court Arena and Open Courts.
Staying true to its commitment to build a multi-sport viewing culture, SPSN will telecast a live studio wraparound show after the morning and evening sessions through the duration of the tournament on SONY SIX that will also be live streamed on SonyLIV app and website. The show will be hosted by Jason Dasey and will feature expert insights from panellists like Chris Evert, John McEnroe amongst others live from Melbourne.
Live and Exclusive coverage of the tournament beginning at 5:30 AM from January 15 to January 28, 2018 will be aired on Sony Pictures Sports Network channels Sony SIX, Sony SIX HD, Sony TEN 2 and Sony TEN 2 HD and live stream of the matches will be available on the SonyLIV App and website.
