Sony Sports Network is all set to continue the broadcast of the iconic cricket rivalry between Australia and England with The Women’s Ashes Tour 2022 which comprises 3 T20I matches, a one-off Test and 3 ODI matches and will be broadcast live from January 20 to February 8, 2022.
The women’s series which draws its name from the Historic Men’s Ashes series follows a point system to determine the winner of the tour. While the one-off test match provides 4 points to the winning team, the limited over matches provide 2 points. Started in 1934-35, the series has seen Australia dominate the number with 9 wins while England closely follows the trail with 6 series wins in their 23 encounters. While England will look to reduce the winning gap Down Under, Australia will aim to follow the footsteps of the Men’s National Team and look at expanding their lead during the 24th Women’s Ashes Tour.
The Australian side will be led by Meg Lanning and backed by Alyssa Healy and Darcie Brown. The hosts will also be boosted by the return of experienced trio Rachael Haynes, Megan Schutt and Jess Jonassen for the series. After their male counterparts surrendered the urn at the earliest opportunity over just 12 days of cricket this winter, the England Women’s team, led by Heather Knight and with the experience of top players like Nat Sciver, Danni Wyatt, Katherine Brunt among others, will travel to Australia looking to become the first team to beat Meg Lanning’s side in any series since the 2013-14 Ashes.
