Sneaker brand Comet is turning old refrigerators into trendy footwear closets, in partnership with artist Shariq Rahman.
The initiative has been timed to coincide with Diwali, which is associated with the purchase of new appliances in India.
“In a groundbreaking collaboration with the multifaceted artist Shariq Rahman, renowned for his prowess in graffiti art, mural work, apparel design and entrepreneurial ventures, Comet is revolutionising the way we perceive old fridges. These commonplace household appliances are no longer confined to the realm of functionality; they are being reimagined as artistic and functional pieces, pulsating with the spirit of youth culture and sneakerhead camaraderie,” informed a media statement on the initiative.
The sneaker brand bears the tagline ‘Never shy, Never sorry’. Comet’s move is billed as a break from conventional Diwali traditions, embracing the essence of the youth culture and inviting them to redefine the narrative.
