Dentsu Aegis Network Indonesia has promoted SK Biswas from chief operating officer to chief executive six months after joining the agency. Biswas succeeds industry veteran Harris Thajeb, who will move into the role of non-executive chairman.
There are no immediate plans to fill Biswas’ role of COO, DAN confirmed.
Formerly the head of Havas Media Indonesia and Thailand, Biswas has more than 25 years of experience in the communications industry. He has also held roles at Starcom and FCB and will report to Dick van Motman, CEO of DAN South East Asia.
Van Motman said: “Whilst we were plotting acceleration of growth in Indonesia, both Harris and I agreed that one of the key imperatives is to have this 900-strong team spearheaded by the next generation of leadership.
“We both identified Biswas as the perfect candidate for this task given his convergent experience, energy level and deep knowledge of the local market.”
Biswas’ appointment follows a number of upheavals to DAN’s executive leadership. The holding group recently appointed Jennifer Tang as the CEO for Taiwan. In the Philippines, DAN also replaced its CEO Angelito Pangilinan with Donald Lim after less than a year. DAN’s Indonesian base was recently shaken by the suicide of Dentsu Media manager Jiro Inao.
